In the last blog we talked about some plant identification apps; since posting we have found there are many more available, usually hiding in the education genre of app stores. Some of these apps are real gems.
As our main interest is trees our favourites are
- Forest Xplorer, created by the Forestry Commission. This has tree identification as well as other activities to do in the woods and areas managed by the Forestry Commission.
- Tree Id, this one costs, but the reviews are great
Gardens are much more than the trees and hedges so apps that identify flowers to grow are really useful too. Here are our favourites that are free
- Plantifier
- Like that garden
- Naturegate
Others available include PlantNet – great if you understand french and Ipflanzen a german option. There is also Flowerchecker but this is not a free app.
