What Type Of Pruning May We Recommend?
- Canopy thinning – to increase air and sunlight to all parts of the tree
- Removing suckers and rogue forms – to help the tree put all its energy into the main trunk and branches
- Removing crossed branches – these can rub, causing damage and allowing disease into the tree
- Removing potential hazards – low growing and eye level branches, or parts at risk from storm damage
Pruning can stimulate growth in sparse areas of the tree. Pruning can also restrict growth where needed as can be seen in these photos
