Size
The Silver Birch (Betula Pendula) can grow up to 30m in 50 years. However, garden centres and specialist nurseries can advise on smaller varieties growing 9-12m that are more suitable for a garden.
Depending on variety the bark can be creamy white through to dramatic red. Our favourite creamy white bark trees include

Silver Birch will tolerate difficult soils and aspects, such as boggy areas, and shade. Other trees for these difficult areas include Hawthorn, Willow and Rowan
