Type of Hedge
Faulkner is a low compact, dense evergreen shrub with small, rounded, mid-green aromatic leaves. It has an average height after 10 years of 0.5 to 1 meters with a spread of 1 to 1.5 meters.
Growing Conditions
Grows best in well-drained soil in partial shade and prior to planting propagate using semi-hardwood cuttings.

Why plant this hedge in your garden?
The Faulkner would be a great addition to your garden with small and rounded, mid-green aromatic leaves. Please note however, the Faulkner is highly susceptible to box blight, so if you or your neighbours have a problem with box blight we recommend you do not choose the Faulkner as it is likely to also become infected. Alternatives for the box topiary may include Yew or Privet.

When planted in exposed areas, it can be scorched by sun and strong winds.
What to look out for when the hedge is established (2 years or more after planting or if you inherit it)
The Faulkner can be susceptible to box sucker, box red spider mite, box tree moth caterpillars and mussel scale. Additionally it can be affected by diseases such as leaf spot. Box blight is also a major problem within the UK which makes it difficult to grow the Faulkner.
