With the long weekend almost upon us and an improving weather forecast you may be thinking about your garden and what you can do in it.
The recent storms have left the clay soil of Warwickshire very wet and ‘claggy’ so remember these points as you plan what to do in your garden. As far as possible avoid walking on flowerbeds and minimize your time walking on the grass
- If your grass is dry enough, give it a cut, not too short. This will encourage growth and remove all the dead grass making your lawn greener
- If you want to weed or work on a flowerbed stand on a plank of wood to distribute your weight and minimize soil compaction
- Remove dead leaves and branches that have come down in the storms, a tidy garden looks loved.
Other jobs you can consider doing this weekend are
- Cleaning slabs and paths, remove the dirt and slime that builds up over the winter
- Clean the bar-b-q it won’t be too long until you’ll want to use it
- Check your garden furniture, will it last another summer?
