New house and garden

Does your garden advertise you are away?

With the summer holidays almost upon us, many are thinking and booking their annual break. When you go how do you stop your home advertising your absence?

There are many tips and hints, from the police and security groups about leaving lights on timers in the house to make it look occupied, but does your garden give you away?

These tips help keep your garden looking great even when you are not there to tend it.

  • Mow your lawns just before you go, long grass shows no one is about to mow
  • Remove pots and hanging baskets that you water regularly out of sight. They will quickly wilt if you stop watering them. Alternatively invest in automatic watering systems or ask a neighbour to water for your pots and baskets for you.
  • Tie in plants, particularly those near windows and doors. A plant growing across a door is a give away that no one has been through that door for a while

And best of all if you have good neighbours ask them to keep an eye on your house and garden for you. If you are growing any fruit or vegetables, offering your produce to them while you are away is a great incentive for them.

Where ever and when ever you are on holiday this summer, all the team at Chopwell wish you Happy Holidays!
