Nearing the end of August, we feel it is ‘Back To’ time. Back to school, back to work, back to some form of normal. Although 2020 cannot be called normal by any stretch of the imagination.
In our gardens the flowers, fruits and weeds are all flourishing. Some may be getting to the end of their season, particularly some fruit and vegetables. Flowering plants can still produce a good final display, with a little help from you
- Deadhead regularly, this will encourage new blooms
- Pick any seed pods, particularly on sweet peas, once they form a seed in the pod, the plant can stop flowering
- Harvest fruit and vegetables regularly both to enjoy and to encourage the plant to keep producing.
Back to nature
We hope 2020 so far, has given you the chance to get more in touch with nature. With the start of the change of season from summer to autumn it is a great to get out and about. Generally, the ground is fairly dry and firm; the recent downpours drenched the topsoil but underneath everything is still firm. If you are out and about look out for blackberries and other hedgerow fruits. They are all starting to ripen, and we have noticed some bumper crops on our travels.
Back to a routine
With schools restarting soon we are getting back into our routine, looking forward to being out and about in the Warwickshire countryside helping individuals and businesses care for their plants and land.
The recent storms have bought down branches and trees. We have been busy clearing the mess. As the recent storms have shown, trees can be very vulnerable, and the consequences of large branches falling can be catastrophic.
If you are concerned about a tree you own, or that overlooks your property contact us. We can advise how to care for your tree, and the options if it is becoming a potential hazard.
