We have already mentioned the importance of pruning and trimming trees and shrubs to encourage the type of growth you want in 2015. There are many other things you can do to help your tree get noticed in Warwickshire in 2015.
Love your Trees – Tread and Stake Your Trees
The winter weather may have disturbed the roots. Give your plant a push and shove, if it moves it needs firming back into the soil. Tread round the base of the tree or shrub to help secure the roots back into position and if it is still unsteady, the plant may need a stake.
Correctly positioned and secured plant stakes help trees, shrubs or hedges flourish, but so often we see incorrect use of stakes and ties which are ineffective or can even cause the plants to become stunted or even strangled.
If you use too small a stake it will not provide enough support; if it’s too large it can overwhelm the plant and your eye is drawn to the large post, not the small plant which then ruins the look of the plot.
When a tree or shrub is tied into a stake too tightly or with incorrect materials it can introduce disease or leave unsightly blemishes on the bark. If you are unsure whether to stake your plant or how to stake it please contact us for expert friendly advice.
