It is lovely to know the Easter Break is almost upon us. Traditionally Easter tasks includes starting to plant seeds and seedlings ready for the summer.
The wet and cold weather since December, means the ground may not really be ready to accept tender plants and seeds. If you are keen to get planting but concerned the ground is still too wet and cold, get seeds started in pots on windowsills. By the time they have germinated, the soil should be warmer, a little drier and better for planting.
Grass and lawns
The good news is that the soil is drying out so you can risk treading on the grass or soil in your garden without worrying too much. Like many, you may have already given your grass its first cut. Keep the mower blades high for the first few cuts and if you can mulch mow to allow the grass to keep nutrients to help it regenerate.
Spring bulbs
Many of the earlier spring bulbs have finished flowering, deadhead daffodils and allow foliage to die back so the bulbs below are fed. If bulbs are in the wrong place, carefully move them now ready for next spring.
If you are facing a long Easter task list for both home and garden, you may decide ‘enough is enough’ I need some help and advice.
