With just over a week to go to Christmas are you searching for last minute gifts?
Here at Chopwell, this time of year is so busy with tidying up after storms and our scheduled work, that Christmas present shopping can be very last minute. Here is our last minute gift guide!
Green Virtual Presents
With little time left for shopping we love the Green Christmas presents available from environmental charities, you donate, and others benefit. Here are three of our UK favourites, and three suggestions for world wide ones as well. With so many charities we are sure you have yours too
- The Woodland Trust, who manage many woodlands in the UK
- RSPB (Royal Society for the Protection of Birds) manage areas of woodland and wild areas to encourage birds and wildlife
- Your Local wildlife trust helps manage environments for our native species
Internationally, there are many wonderful charities, here are a few
- Tree Aid, who support tree growing in Africa to help rural communities and small businesses
- World wide fund for nature (WWF), features animals and protecting their environments
- Friends of the Earth promote all aspects of nature conservation to reduce the impact of climate change
Green Actual Presents
If you prefer a to buy a last minute gift you can buy, these garden accessories encourage wildlife too. All widely available at garden centres, DIY shops and supermarkets.
- Bird feeders and bird food. When you put up some bird feeders and you will see the birds flock to your garden. You may be surprised how many different species you can spot
- Install a bug hotel. Buy or make, it is a quick project with materials to hand. There is lots of advice on the internet on how to make at bug hotel. They are simple to hang on a fence, and bug hotels encourage insect diversity in your garden
- Create a bird bath, you can buy one or just use a plant pot saucer.
