Is your garden a mess?

We hope you’ve had a great summer so far!

Maybe though your summer garden is looking tired, unloved and a bit of a mess?

Don’t despair ! With secateurs and a mower your garden will soon be looking presentable again.

Mow the lawn

It may be a bit brown in places, set the mower a little higher and give your lawn a light trim.  Any shaggy bits will be removed,  it will look neat and tidy.  For the complete finish, if you have the time, trim the edges that border flower beds, paths and patios too.

Soak pots

Pots of summer annuals and other flowers may have dried out. Stand them in a bucket of water.  Water them from the top then leave for a few hours or overnight so the soil in the pot has a chance to get really damp again. Place the pot on a  saucer to catch the drips.

If the plant is an alpine, succulent or cactus, stand the pot in a bucket, water, then remove immediately or leave for just a few minutes.  Place the pot on pot feet to encourage drainage, these types of plants need water but do not like standing in it.

Trim spent flowers

Some plants will look a mess.  Dead head and remove spent shoots, this will encourage new growth and make the plant look tidy.  Remove seed heads on annuals particularly sweet peas to encourage them to keep flowering.  Some seed pods like poppy can be a feature so leave them to broadcast their seed when ready.

If all this sounds like hard work, give Chopwell a call. Our friendly professional team can clear any mess in your garden for you.
